  1. Years ago, I contacted a number of entomologists who specialized in tiger beetles in order to get further information for an article I was writing. (I realize this sounds like the set-up for a joke, but it’s the absolute truth.) I learned a lot of interesting things about them, but the one that sticks in my memory is that they run so fast, they actually can’t get enough light hitting their eyes and the go blind temporarily. They have to wait for a couple of seconds before resuming the hunt.

    I know it sounds unbelievable, so I tracked down an article from National Geographic to back me up. 🙂

  2. What a lovely coincidence that you’ve also written about tiger beetles! I had no idea about the beetles going blind for a moment as they run after their prey. I think Fly would also love to read your comment.
