The title of the haiku set me up — in a good way — letting my assumptions assume what words might follow. Because the haiku’s ending arrives so quickly, the residue of the assumptions remain and mix with the new sentiment arising from the piece. Delightful.

Having inherited my father’s unwanted ability to grow coarse stubble within an hour of having shaved, I long ago decided to grow a beard. It’s scraggly but soft.

Hmm. I do like running my fingers over facial hair on a man but not after he’s eaten breakfast! Eggs and bacon are usually found on my fingertips afterwards 😀
