Tear Free
The ghost of my past won’t let me be.
It clutches and makes me stare
at all the scary memories.
Close your eyes, you say
as you pull me into your embrace.
I feel the stubble on your chin against my cheek,
and I realize the things about you
that make me weak-kneed,
are what strengthen me to believe,
from the dark, I can one day tear free.

My fault entirely, Rose – I’ve been out of the loop for about a month, with various things going on/kicking off. Events, dear lady, events…

Very nice. And I liked the ambiguity of the title getting sorted out by the last line.

Cool! I’m sure you were on the edge of your chair or um, perch with excitement; wondering when the title will make sense! Haha!! I’m sorry you had to wait until the very end. I hope your fine feathers weren’t overly ruffled. 😊

If you lose hope, the game is over, ultimately only you can send the demons away, but a little help is great .

Stubble of the ghost (of past) against the cheek! No wonder you wouldn’t want to be there for long.;) Imaginative as always Rose.

My imagination is my best friend and worst enemy, at times. Thanks so much, Somali! ❤

Hmm you are right – imagination can be a best friend or the worst enemy. Very true.

We’re all haunted by something, right? Look on the bright side — a haunted memory won’t break your dishes or levitate your bed. Or cause your head to spin. Or slam the door during the night. Poltergeists can be very rude.

Lol. Well, since you’ve put it that way… Are poltergeists as rude as the guy Mort beat up with a plate?

Hey…Mort gently pushed the man’s face toward the counter and the plate happened to be there. Innocent mistake. It could happen to anyone.
Poltergeists are more rude — they’ll break your dishes for no reason. Or for fun.

Beautifully written…lovely sentiments at the end of the possibility of breaking free. The dark…it does have its own appeal, though.
Great work. 🙂
