The dark reached for me.
I laughed aloud and stood tall,
so it let me be.

Well it is a cool poem. The picture reminds me of a Korn album as well. I didn’t really comment on anything on the net until you showed up so you’re welcome π

Thanks! The photo is awesome by FlyTrapMan; incredibly brilliant guy with a goofy-raw side — similar to how you are; in fact. Ha! I had to google Korn and definitely agree with you. I’m flying high having read your comment; really?! I’m touched and hope you visit again π xo

I forgot to mention: you were right! That photograph was of an owl — not a crow. Oops! \”/

Yeah, I thought so! I was just nodding politely when you said it was a crow. ππ

I just got your double meaning: “The dark needs to start lifting.”
Sure makes a difference reading comments at work – opposed to being home and relaxing! Very clever, Fly!! xo

Well…I’d love to take credit for being clever, but I was being very literal: the dark needs to start lifting some weights!

Hahaha! Damn, Fly, I give you way too much credit. Lmao!! I need to not be so generous dispersing credit like it was confetti or something. Lol. Funny guy!!

I need to stop being so honest — I had a great opportunity to be clever! \”/

Yeah, what’s up with that? No, I like your honesty. Haha; I say that now, but I KNOW it’s gonna bite me on my butt later; probably sooner than later (knowing you!).

You just opened the door wide open and invited a thousand clever remarks — none of which — should be expressed.
I had to let you know…because…you know…I’m an honest person! \”/

LMAO! Thank you for being kind. π Have you ever tried stand up comedy before? I know people say you’re hilarious, right? Are you just funny on the internet or are you like that in person, as well??

I never tried stand up comedy — I’m probably more reserved than you believe, and most people say I’m a quiet individual (in person). However — what I write is what I say. And vice versa. I hope that makes sense.

Still waters run deep. How lucky we are to catch your humor here online!
Ah, got to get some stuff done. I’ll email you later? I have a couple of questions I’d like your input on. No rush. xo

I have no idea what that is, but I’m excited you’re here to share your wisdom with a dummy like me π

Dummies don’t write with your clarity, precision and raw ability to amuse and terrify at the same time. Keep it up! I don’t know who said you were a dummy, but lies are easy to believe under an assumption as fact.

Well done. There is that seriousness beneath the lightheartedness. Does remind me of the time I went out onto the front porch to have a smoke (anxiety level really high) and in the corner of my eye, I caught some movement. Jumping back in flight mode (not fight mode) I realized it was my shadow. π

Bwhahahaha!!! That is hilarious, Doug! It’s good you’ve got your flight mode down pat — shadows can be brutal, at times π

Having the ability to look at oneself (be it shadow or directly) should elicit a sense of joy and happiness. Many fear what they see and often accept other people’s opinion as factual representations. Each person was given the opportunity to exist in this world. Recognizing the individual gifts each and every person has to offer should make the shadow or mirror a more inviting reflection.
I love your perspective in this piece. You create a light hearted character with great strength and a true sense of self. Wonderful!

Delicious! I can eat every word you write; you’re so poetic. Yum; I’m satiated, and no need to cook dinner tonight. Hmm, what’s for dessert?? Lol. π

Flytrap’s doing the ‘hang loose’ sign! In the Latin states, I think it means something else other than ‘yellow.’

What do you mean? lol

His right hand. It’s American Sign Language for “yellow.” In Mexico, it means something else entirely!

The haiku is a wise and worthy companion to Oscar Wilde’s observation that life is too important to be taken seriously.
