She plugs herself into another world
where disappointment is extinct.
Hearts are never tarnished.
Music heals all things.
A press of a button and she soars
high above the insipidness
that once stained her soul.
Songs revive dying dreams
fettered and caged after her fall –
now ascending atop mountains
and higher still through heavenβs portal.

Yes, beautifully put…I do understand as I do something similar whilst looking through my lens…I am then lost to the world! Must be better than drugs anytime.

Oh, how wonderful that you related to my poem through the magical lens of your camera! I love that image you’ve captured for me. Thank you, Paula — amazing how words can take us all to different places. πΌ π· πΈ

love these coincidences, just a few minutes ago, I read on a blog by a German lady about how you are meant to sing in the dark as a way to give courage to yourself and meant to whistle in the forest for the same reason but also to keep dangerous animals away and make a territorial claim.
But best of all there is a theory that music blocks the activity of the Amygdala, which is the fear center of our brains.
makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?

Hmm… that is fascinating! Singing in the dark sounds like fun; especially if your voice is awful, and you don’t want anyone to know who’s mangling the song π I love my overactive Amygdala, though, and would never want to block my fear center π

it was just meant to show how powerful music is and that it might have resulted from a primal need of expression, claiming territory and overcoming fear.

I know I’ve said this before, but you have quite the knack for a grand finale with the last two lines of your writing, which I love. Music can actually heal, not just mentally but physically.

Hmm, perhaps I should take my last 2 lines of my poems and place them in the beginning, so you don’t have to wait til the end to start swooning! π lol. I appreciate your kind words and totally agree about what you’ve said about music. π πΆ

No, it was perfect, just like good music; at first you’re entranced, then comes the build, and the perfect finale. You never cease to amaze.

Interesting monochrome photograph. The headphone wires have a nice contrast. Your words painted an ephemeral context, and although the photograph is monochrome — your expression certainly added vibrancy.

Josephine’s amazing photograph did all the work! π Your words are poetic and unusually kind! I better pinch myself to make sure I’m not having a nightmare. Haha! Thanks Fly. π

Poetry is music in words, and music is poetry in sounds. Someone said that, and it is very true.

I like your words very much. Thank you! I listened to Mensaje Imputente β very abstract and kinda celestial.
The first lines were beautiful:
βSpace is filled with pure joy when you learn to give without asking for anything.β

You’re my hero. I never know what he’s saying and have relied on emotion for years. I could just be lazy too. Thanks for that though, that’s really great.

Here’s the translation (I’m a bit rusty with my Spanish, so my friend helped me out a bit). π
The space is filled with pure joy
when you learn to give without asking for anything
Cut your veins and still try maybe your blood will not be forgotten.
There’s hatred in my being.
The planets align for me.
Free God of yesterday
His hands were freed yesterday
He did not allow disappointment.
Light awakens.
I lost my great sun, when I left my new god. Always follow that inner voice. I was crippled by the world.
Clouds hide, revealing on high.
The forest sings in his glory.
I am the great son.
Do not forget my name.
I am destruction.

Hey Rose
I’ve been slow on the draw
Just dropped by to say hello
Too much going on
My head is like a warehouse with no room to spare
Great piece
