Raven spies up high

Trading secrets with the moon

They whisper, She’s doomed.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Coronis now hides

In her lover’s arms she prays

To see one more day

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Apollo’s rage burns

Sears the raven’s plumes to black

Riled god wields sharp shaft.

*Coronis was a Thessalian princess who was Apollo’s unfaithful lover. She was pierced by Apollo’s arrow and upon her death, was cast into the sky as a constellation.

The raven was the messenger of the gods whose plumes were once white. In anger, Apollo singed the raven’s feathers until they turned black.

Magick Mermaid sent her gorgeous ACEO prints to me, and I, in turn, sent her my skateboarding dinosaurs.
My dinos like to roll!

  1. Love the image of the raven whispering to the moon and trading secrets.

And those skateboarding dinosaurs! When my girls were little they had some dinosaurs like that that they played with in the tub. The dinosaurs were Jewish. . .the memory still makes me laugh.

  2. Your post is most appreciated and music to my ears for today is Mardi Gras and I’m in the madness at home in New Orleans enjoying the mythology of it all. Coronus has his own parade downtown. But for me, it’s Raven who makes himself known at every turn today… jc

  3. I enjoy how the haiku begin in the sky with the ravens and the moon, zoom into to earth for more human concerns and then back into the heavens for some good ol’ fashion supernatural vengeance. And what a beautifully spooky illustration.
However, skateboarding dinosaurs upstage almost anything. Dogtown and Z-boys meets Land Before Time. Wicked.

    • Whenever I see your comment pop up, I’m like Cookie Monster, and I gobble up your words like a lunatic; scattering alphabets and punctuation marks all over the place. It’s a good thing we’ve never met. 🤣. Thank you so much, Og. Me love cookies!

Haven’t seen Dogtown and Z-boys, yet. Would you recommend it? Wicked is one of my favorite words, by the way!

      • Are you sure we’ve never met? 😉
I had no skateboard growing up. There was nowhere to skate if I did. Dogtown and Z Boys is cool; it’s kind of crazy to see how tame the stuff those guys were doing back then is compared to somebody like Tony Hawk, but they were the inventors and pioneers, really creative. Stay wicked, my friend.

        • I guess that peeping Tom across my street could very well be you☺️ I’ll ask him tomorrow night when he’s by my window.

Well, you did have your books growing up and that’s why you are the very wise Oglach we’ve all grown to love and miss.

Hmm. I’ll check out the movie. I want to know what your definition of “cool” is. I always had a crush on Tony Hawk and his amazing moves.

    • Hi Mich! All this madness made me lose track of my comments. I’m sorry for my late reply, darling friend! Magick Mermaid traded her gorgeous raven prints with me for my skateboarding dinos. At this time, I have none for sale. Hey, that’s awesome!! I bet you were an amazing teacher, and yes, A+ please! Health & happiness, Mich. 💋👏🏼👏🏼
