Enraged Moon

Moon and beech

The moon glared at the snow on the land.

Winter’s grasp had clutched on far too long.

Icicle fangs glinting; terrified Spring –

who hesitated to unpack in fear of getting frostbitten.

Pity Spring whose baggage was left untouched,

and mischievous Winter froze the lock tightly shut.

In a death hold embrace, sleet suffocated the flowers.

The petals screaming for air, languished and cowered.

The enraged moon saw all this and called to the sun –

to shine on Winter until the ice in her heart was gone.

Now powerless and weak, the frosty queen was defeated.

All the flowers, plants, and trees of the land celebrated.

Yet there in the shadows, see her with hands wringing.

Winter, with her devilish grin, continues scheming.

  1. Absolutely beautiful! Sublime representation of light-dark contrast, contrast of opposites as reflected in the human soul. Love your poems! Keep it on!

  2. Queen knows how to turn a devastating and cruel loss into victory ….

    Queen knew she was
    defeated but, that
    didn’t let her
    down she worked
    harder in dark which
    made her lose and
    came back to
    limelight just to
    show whether it’s a
    queen or common lady
    no woman will ever
    accept her defeat without
    a fight ..:)

  3. “The enraged moon saw all this and called to the sun –

to shine on Winter until the ice in her heart was gone.” — clever rhyme! But Winter’s heart is destined to refreeze…you know…because of Earth’s axial tilt. She can’t help it \”/

  4. The moon and the sun working together. It sounds like the greatest WWF tag team of all time. Of course, Winter will simply feign injury and then pull some dirty trick when the referee’s not looking. She’ll be back. Oh yes, she’ll be back.
