The moon glared at the snow on the land.
Winter’s grasp had clutched on far too long.
Icicle fangs glinting; terrified Spring –
who hesitated to unpack in fear of getting frostbitten.
Pity Spring whose baggage was left untouched,
and mischievous Winter froze the lock tightly shut.
In a death hold embrace, sleet suffocated the flowers.
The petals screaming for air, languished and cowered.
The enraged moon saw all this and called to the sun –
to shine on Winter until the ice in her heart was gone.
Now powerless and weak, the frosty queen was defeated.
All the flowers, plants, and trees of the land celebrated.
Yet there in the shadows, see her with hands wringing.
Winter, with her devilish grin, continues scheming.

What a fun poem! But we know she’ll be back.

Yes, and beware of her frigid nature (even Sirius won’t be of much help). 😉

Your stories are lyrical and remind me of poetry, at times. I bet poems wouldn’t be such a far stretch for you. Whatever you do, just don’t stop writing. I love your work.

Queen knows how to turn a devastating and cruel loss into victory ….
Queen knew she was
defeated but, that
didn’t let her
down she worked
harder in dark which
made her lose and
came back to
limelight just to
show whether it’s a
queen or common lady
no woman will ever
accept her defeat without
a fight ..:)

A lovely story…like a child’s tale. Interesting that Winter is so often used in metaphor to express darkness, evil, suffering, menace and so on.

Thank you! Winter is seen as a bit of a witch, isn’t she? I guess it’s hard to want to hug someone so cold and icy unless it was Frosty the Snowman.

“The enraged moon saw all this and called to the sun –
to shine on Winter until the ice in her heart was gone.” — clever rhyme! But Winter’s heart is destined to refreeze…you know…because of Earth’s axial tilt. She can’t help it \”/

That’s one of my favorite lines in the poem. I’m thrilled you found it clever😊
Hmm, so the axial tilt is to blame for winter’s icy heart, huh? You know, I’ve met really cold people in my lifetime. I wonder if the reason is cuz they’re kinda tilted from the sun? Maybe it’s their posture that’s to blame😉

A cold individual may have a posture tilt disorder — 23.5 degrees…if you want to be exact \”/

The moon and the sun working together. It sounds like the greatest WWF tag team of all time. Of course, Winter will simply feign injury and then pull some dirty trick when the referee’s not looking. She’ll be back. Oh yes, she’ll be back.
