She loved him with a rage
that bent his will power in half.
He couldn’t say no to her –
yet when he said yes,
she would draw blood –
leaving him for dead.

Figuratively, this sounds like many toxic relationships I’ve witnessed and read about on wordpress. Rather than establishing a relationship to share, enhance and nurture one another, one or both individuals “suck the life” from the body like a vampire sucking the blood from its victim. Yet, there is an honest sense of caring that can even be described as love on a level I can’t quite fully understand. This poem shows the chemistry of the body is so powerful satisfaction must be achieved regardless of the outcome.

I have been there the sensation of this kind of love
Leaves you lifeless
And afterwards I ran so fast away
I can’t begin to tell you about the after effects
I still feel this many many years since
Great piece
This brought back……..

You know, this poem reminds me a little of the intense relationship between Heathcliff and Cathy in Wuthering Heights, but with the roles reversed. It made for a riveting and powerful tale, but I’m glad I don’t have that kind of relationship myself.
Having said that, I can’t say no to my wife either. She never draws blood, though, since she only ever uses blunt objects.

Wow! So deep, BunK. What?! LMAO! I’m glad your wife only bruises you instead of puncturing your skin. SO very kind of her 😀
