After looking carefully at the branches I am convinced that the act of bird murdering and consumption was caused by the pain produced when these birds landed on the osteoarthritic branches. This particular tree was already suffering from birch wood dementia. Now that these new facts have been uncovered, I provided an alternate explanation for the loss of birds:
Arthritic branches
Tremors attracting bird flight
Source of nutrition
Your version is so much better! At least I have come out from the Haiku closet. π

Yes, it true. I’m often in danger from snake trees, hidden vines, unexpected cactus plants and so on.
