Conquering the Shadow

The dark reached for me.

I laughed aloud and stood tall,

so it let me be.

  1. Well done. There is that seriousness beneath the lightheartedness. Does remind me of the time I went out onto the front porch to have a smoke (anxiety level really high) and in the corner of my eye, I caught some movement. Jumping back in flight mode (not fight mode) I realized it was my shadow. 🙂

  2. Having the ability to look at oneself (be it shadow or directly) should elicit a sense of joy and happiness. Many fear what they see and often accept other people’s opinion as factual representations. Each person was given the opportunity to exist in this world. Recognizing the individual gifts each and every person has to offer should make the shadow or mirror a more inviting reflection.

I love your perspective in this piece. You create a light hearted character with great strength and a true sense of self. Wonderful!
