She traveled these woods many times. Sometimes marveling at the pink clouds of a sunset or catching glimpses of shy rabbits but always just watching. “I must ask someone to walk with me someday,” she would say – while knowing all along that no one would ever walk with a ghost.

  1. This story reminds me of a ghost tour I took in Charlotte, NC. I am attaching a blog post that has some pictures. https://thatjessgal.wordpress.com/2010/12/04/three-cheers-for-ri-ra/ Scroll down 1 picture beyond the glass of beer to read a small blurb (below the picture of the bar) about the ghosts in the Ri Ra bar. This little girl is seen all the time playing with toys and not responding to anyone that talks to her. She reportedly laughs and runs around. Most people claim they are surprised to see such a little girl running around a bar unattended by an adult. She has also written part of the alphabet on a wall that is 15+ feet up in the air that cannot be removed with typical cleaning agents. I am a believer!!

  2. This sweet sad story reminds me of a cartoon character from my childhood. Casper the Friendly Ghost would try to have friendly interactions with people, who were always freaked out by him. Dunno how many children took in the subtle message about dealing with somebody different in accord with *who* they are vs. *what* they are.

    • Casper is annoying! There was a Casper movie released not that long ago, and yep, still annoying (didn’t finish it; my stomach wouldn’t allow it). Anyway, I can see where you’re going with my poem and love your interpretation, as always! πŸŽƒπŸ‘»πŸŽƒ
